Ecological packaging for promotional products
One of the concerns of the promotional product industry related to sustainability is the use of ecological packaging. Most of the time, the promotional items you purchase for promotion are packed, sometimes with additional protective materials. Products can be sustainable, but a polluting packaging does not match the chosen direction of environmental protection.
Packaging in the ecological balance zone
Let’s take a look at what packaging means in general. For promotional products, packaging means boxes, preformed interiors, paper, bags, protective foils, rolls, filling material, crates, pallets, etc.
The materials from which these packages are made can be: cardboard, paper, wood, plastic (in all forms), metal (aluminum, alloys), textile materials. The increase in the amount of packaging in circulation imposed the need to preserve the ecological balance. That’s why, as in other industries, the production of promotional items turned to making packaging from more environmentally friendly materials.
Plastic elements have been replaced with cardboard structures of similar strength. The actual packaging was eliminated where the use was more aesthetic than protective. Many of the natural materials have been replaced with the same recycled materials, saving natural resources.
Ideas for replacement of materials or packaging
Most of the producers of promotional products we work with have made the effort to make packaging from recyclable or recycled materials. We are talking here especially about cardboard packaging. We have many products in our portfolio that are packed in boxes made of FSC® certified materials. they are made of recycled materials: recycled paper, recycled glass, recycled PET or ABS, etc.
Reducing the packaging to save material is another eco-friendly option, together with the elimination of plastic elements:
Giving gifts in paper bags is still a very good idea, the paper can be reused or recycled very easily. There is also the option of customizing some cotton or jute bags, bags that will definitely be reused after receiving them.
Ecological packaging – recyclable, reusable, biodegradable
In addition to the raw materials and materials used in the production of ecological packaging, their recycling and reuse protects the environment. Cardboard, paper, cotton, plastic of certain types – all can be both recycled and reused for other purposes. For example, the packaging of a bottle or a glass can be used as a phone or a small pot holder:
For the filling of the gift boxes, it is beneficial to use materials that are as sustainable as possible. Biodegradable flakes or recycled foil or shredded paper can be used:
Regardless of the products you choose, always take into account the packaging used, so that your promotional actions have as little impact on the environment as possible. Lexonn consultants are at your disposal for details and suggestions suitable for your projects.
